Google is the homepage to over 60% of Australian who own a computer. It is the first search engine that anybody thinks of and you can find absolutely anything on it! You can search the whole web for information pictures, news, videos. Then there are the other cool features like maps of anywhere in the WORLD! a language translator and many other things. Its often the first place that students look for help with work and is a great place to get directions to get from point A to point B.

What i could never work out was how does google make their money! Well works out gets all its money from sponsors and advertising! It has to be the smartest place to advertise. Thing would be visited daily and your product/company is right infront of the world.

I was also thinking what is the point of making yahoo or there is a new engine out called bing. There is absoletly no point and they should put there money into something that they could have a chance with. Who has ever said, “I’ll go look that up on bing” or “yahoo”. No they always say, “let me look that up on google” or “i’ll google it”

Although nobody likes it; homework and home study is important. it helps set the things you have learnt in class into your long-term memory and it makes it much easier to recall test and exams. The key is to after learning something in classes recall what you had learned later that evening and possibly even the next night to glue it in.

The success of any exam preparation program is dependent upon the student studying early and not cramming copious amount of information the night before the exam. Students need to organise their time effectively by constructing  weekly study planner.

Students should also have a good night of sleep. There is no point studying for an exam or test all night long, then when it comes around for the test you are too tired to consontrate. Also it is important to keep up healthy eating patterns and to do regular excercise to reduce stress and take your mind off work.

There is a fine balance between sport, study and rest, but all it takes it a bit of planning.

I think is about time this school got over this stupid sport! They make the students sit through a 2 hour assembly just to bless a boat that no body cares about and that the school isnt going to win anything in. The school focuses on this sport and we dont even win anything. When was the last time cbc won a head of the river! Did you know that rowings budget is more than all the other sports put together including PE. maybe the school should put some money into a sport that they are actually good at. The school pays for a water sports coordinator who only cares about rowing. He has not done one thing for the canoe club and the responsibility has fallen onto the students and Canoe SA to pick up the slack.

At the school last assembly every sport got 2 or 3 awards per team. Canoeing didnt have any awards. Rowing had at least ten awards and then they started making up more awards just so they could be on stage longer. “best mother who drops their kid off, “Best bench warmer” and stupid ones like that.

I think its about time the school put some money into a sport, that the students might actually do well in…

Under16 K4 - Callum, Daniel, Nick, James(front-back)

 I felt professional as i walked into the Adelaide airport with the rest of the team, all wearing the same uniform. Were taking up half the line to check in, but other people will get over it. I board the plane and realise that is a plane with only 2 seats on each side. I’m very confused because the letters for the seats are still as if the plane was a three seater. A little old lady who looks lovely and sweet started telling me off cause I am in her seat! I didn’t mean to sit in her seat and for the whole fight she was just giving me dirty looks. Every time she i look over she is drinking some drink very sussly. It was like the liquid substance is made of gold and i am planning to steal it.

We get off the plane to find a very sunny Perth, much better than the rainy Adelaide. We arrive at our accommodation to find it’s like school camp. Were in cabins there is a main hall, middle hall, top hall, bottom hall, thats how big this place is! Plus there is a tennis court, swimming pool, 3 kitchens and 10 acres of land. Works out that where I and my friend are staying is right, right, right at the top of the accommodation about 400m away from the main hall all up hill.

We head to the course for a training session and only to find that we are and hour away from the course. We get there at about 3 and start our session. We hope off the water quickly shower and go shopping. We by all our need for the trip and heaps and heaps of food, because the lady in charge of food was under feeding us.

Today is Tuesday and it seems to be just like Monday. We sleep in and wait for the rest of the team to arrive, we go for a kayaking session and then take the rest of the team shopping. The night has involved a lot of thinking and discussing. We discussed all our race plans, our warm ups, warm downs and many more little things involved in racing. I know whats in store and what i have to do to achieve my best.

Its Wednesday now, the first day of racing. We get up eat breakfast, grab our paddles and head off to the course. i look at the race program and work out that i have two races today and possible a thrid if I make it to the semi finals. It’s about 10 o’clock, im sitting on the start line. The nerves are pumping, i know what im here for and i know what i have to come to make it to the semi finals. I take a big deep breath and start my warm up. Our race gets called up and we all line up on the 1000m. The starter calls the start and were off. I started, not as hard as i expected but i looked across and i am still in an ok position.  We get to about the 250m mark and i am sitting in 5th position. The kid jest behind me in the lane next to me picked it up and got ahead of me. So i start picking it up and with about 50 metres to go i get ahead of him and i lung over the line in 5th. I was a tad disappointed because i needed to get 4th or better to get to the next stage. But there is still a chance to make it. All i have to do is get the fastest 5th from all the heats to make it to the semi. about Half an hour later we are all waiting and i am extactic. I was the fastest fifth which means i am now through to the Semi finals. Then i had a doubles race which seemed to go exactly the same but this time I made it to the B final. Then i had the semi’s for . I felt all the same feeling from before. The race started and finished in a blink of an eye. I just missed out on the final but i was ok.

Thursday and Friday went the same as Wednesday. Singles heat, doubles heat, singles semi. once again getting all the same results. Thursday was 500m and friday was 200m.

Saturday was the fun day. I had a couple double canoeing races. They were intense! The difference between kayaking and canoeing is that in kayaking you are sitting down and there is a 2 bladded paddle, where as a canoeing race is on you knees and there is only one blade on the paddle. We raced  over 500m and 200m. Both races were exactly the same. We did our usual warm up and struggled to back paddle into the starting blocks. The race was started and we were off. We jumped out to a good start into 3rd place and we managed to hold onto it for the whole race. I was so happy when we crossed the line in third place. We paddle our boat over to the weighing area and got our boat weighed. It is just heavy enough to pass regulation and we went on the podium to get our medals.

It is now sunday and i knew today was going to be a fun day. To is going to be fun because it is the day where we get to do K4. It is a kayak with four people in it if you didnt guess that.  Were at the course like every other day. im so excited about my favourite race of the regatta. We get the SASI K4 off of the trailer and we head to the start line. Im sitting in seat three who is called the asshole, because he is the one who calls the lifts in a race. Were at the start line of the final of the 500m K4 and i look across and by my calculations i work out that we have a pretty good chance.

We start the race well getting off in the leading pack. There are about four boats, including us that are jumping around the first and second places. We get to about 200m to go and i call our first lift, we pick it up and make it infront of some of the other boats fighting for the lead. The other boats have caught us and we all sitting even. The other boat life and we put in 4th. i call our final lift just before the line and we just miss out on third by less than a second. I’m quite disappointed that we just missed out on a medal. We had trained all season for this race to have a medal slip out of our hands.

Unfortunately the 200m race ended the same and that brought the canoe/kayak australian sprint titles to an end. We watch the older South Australians make it into the world cup and world championship teams and then head off home.

Me and my K2 partner sit down a discuss our week on the plane trip home. Although there were so many times that i missed ot on medals. I was still happy to be there and quite proud of what i achieved.

What is this world coming to! Seriously! Employers have no right to follow workers into the toilet to hurry them up. In the article it said that the workers must spend minimum 92% on the phone to people. There employees dont take into consideration medical problems. Some people need to toilet often due to weak bladder. It should be included in work place laws to give workers ample toilet time.

People deserve respect in the toilet, it isnt right to follow someone into the toilet so they do their business quickly and it should be a personal and quite time.

If team leaders follow their workers into the toilet they might aswell hold their… hand while they do their business…

I feel that the media is over doing this topic! Why should we keep announcing when one of them gets arrested. That’s exactly what they want. They want to be in the public eye, it makes them feel important. I think they should just quietly arrest them all then take them round the back of the building and shoot them. I dont understand how a 13 year old girl could possible be involved in this! Where are her parents!

So now that there are 10 people in jail, arrested, or in bail does that make them the gang of 39…

It started with a kayaking camp on the Murray. The canoe SA squad went up for a training camp and the coach of our squad thought it would be nice to invite a bunch of little kids who are learning the sport. they are all very lucky i didnt hit one of them. There was many long hard hours put into paddling, but we also did running and gym.

The next 8 days all blended into one. including waking up at 5:30 to go kayaking, going to town, bay, westlakes someones house then back to kayaking for gym or paddling.

The last weekend of the holidays were my personal favourite involving a 16th birthday, a minor party and a whole sunday in the pool.
